Low-growing compact tropical plant, with striking foliage. Different leaf markings and patterns decorate the leaves depending on species and variety. The ‘lancifolia’ variety has long narrow leaves decorated fantastically with dark-green spots and contrasting burgundy undersides.

These plants are particularly amazing for the 'dance' they perform daily: their leaves fan out to catch the sun during the day; and at night, they fold upwards like hands in prayer.

CARE:

Prefers a warm spot with medium to bright light indoors or outdoors sheltered. Keep soil moist but not wet. Fertilise throughout spring and summer.

PLEASE NOTE:

All pictures are of plants currently for sale or previously sold at The Tropic Gardener. The plant photographed should be used as an indication of size and quality only, and may not be the exact plant you receive. Form and colour will vary slightly.

Care instructions:
We recommend a quality well-draining mix to provide aeration and deter root rot. A good way to gauge if your plant needs a drink is to feel the soil with your finger. Test to see if the soils is still wet a couple centimetres down. The same test can be done with a moisture meter but be sure to sample multiple spots to get an accurate reading. Remember that the rate of watering provided is a guide only and should be adjusted depending on your potting medium and the environment in which you keep your plant. Happy gardening!
